GAP lecture series
Call for applications (summer term 25 or winter term 25/26)
The Society for Analytic Philosophy enables GAP members to organise and finance a lecture series open to all members and to advertise it via the GAP channels (newsletter, website).
In addition to classical topics of analytic philosophy, we also welcome events that bring out the strengths of analytic philosophy in highly politicised and emotionalised subject areas and enable inquisitive, self-critical debates that are as far removed from ideology as possible and philosophically sound, which may also be particularly suitable for a broader public.
Members who would like to plan such a lecture are cordially invited to submit an informal application by November 30, 2024 for an event in the summer term 25 or winter term 25/26. Funding will be provided for travel and hotel costs and, if applicable, dinners for the speakers up to a maximum amount of € 2,500. Invoices are to be submitted later.
The organisers or teams plan the content of their lecture series themselves: conceptual work, selection of speakers, streaming, etc. The organisers of the pilot project will be happy to advise the selected team.
The scope of the (hybrid) lecture series should be at least 7 units. At least one of the organisers must be a GAP member. The informal applications should include a description of the topic of the lecture series as well as the names of the requested speakers, a concept for recording & streaming, a schedule and a cost breakdown. 1-2 pages are sufficient. Proposals should be sent to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
The event will be announced as a ‘GAP lecture series’ in a special email and in the GAP newsletter. The recordings will later be made available on the GAP YouTube channel. This will require the recordings to have an appealing image and sound quality.
The Executive Board will select one of the proposals received.

With their guests, Geert Keil, Anna Schriefl and Markus Schrenk asked in Berlin and Düsseldorf: What is racism, what is anti-Semitism, sexism, Islamophobia, transphobia, homophobia, etc.?
